Our hotel room was very clean and cosy. Even though the hotel is on a busy touristy area with the revellers still enjoying late nights it was quiet and peaceful in our room due to the double glazing. The rooms are also behind two lots of security doors plus your hotel room door. The metro is only a few metres away. So very convenient. Breakfast was good. Initially we were expecting to get just a croissant and a drink each which I felt would have been insufficient. However as soon as we landed at the airport and met up with Giorgio, the taxi driver who came to pick us up, Andrea our host was on the phone enquiring about what we would like for breakfast the next day. He offered us mini brunches so we opted for scrambled egg/omelette breakfast with toast and hot or cold drinks. Hence we had adequate sustenance to start the day. The location was beautiful. The hotel is situated right in front of the famous Coliseum only separated by a narrow road. Foro Romano sits beautifully at its side. Had our breakfast sat outside Oppio, the restaurant situated on the ground floor of the hotel where we enjoyed the beautiful view while we ate.
When we arrived we were a little flummoxed as to how to get through the main door of the building which was locked. We had to ask the staff of Oppio to help us. We soon realised the building was also occupied by individual private tenants so there was a panel of little buzzers with names next to it. Ours was Tre R Colosseo. When buzzed Jeremy, Andrea's assistant came to let us in. Otherwise everything else was perfect.
We were extremely happy with the room. This is in a small complex of 3 rooms, in a large, grand building in front of the colosseum. Checkin was extremely easy, we contacted Andrea and he sent us a couple of PIN codes to get in both of the doors. Then, about 30 minutes later, he met us in person. The room is very nice and has all the expected facilities. The AC works really well (a bonus for Rome, which can get quite hot). The room is a really good size and the beds are comfortable. I can highly recommend Tre R Colosseo and would stay there again on my next trip to Rome!
One small wrinkle - the fridge did not seem to get very cold.
Room close to the coliseum fully equiped and comfortable.
Perhaps chose room 2 or 3 more spacious and with a view outside.
Great location. Lovely guest room.
Access (door code) is tricky...
I loved leaving the property to see the colosseum right in front of us. It was a perfect location and good value for money. We never met any staff but they kept in contact via WhatsApp and provided recommendations. Great stay!
