A great location and has the added bonus of a fully equipped kitchen. Just be prepared to only cook vegetarian or vegan meals here. Easily walk to the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and close to the subway.
Breakfasts were included, but sometimes the staff didn't appear to set it up and the selection for breakfast was not very healthy. For a yoga studio, I would have expected more than just toast, peanut butter and jelly! The neighbourhood is also quite noisy late into the night and early in the morning.
I loved all the staff, super clean place, and very peaceful! Thank you
The room was clean, lovely and big. Full kitchen set up and both heater and aircon. Close to wonderful restaurants and subway. breakfast was yummy and clean and the yoga classes were so lovely to have right on the premiss.
To be honest I did not see anyone at the property to help us. The next morning we saw a young man at the breakfast nook but he did not welcome us or offer any explanation as to how it worked. In fact, he seemed a bit annoyed when I asked questions for example where are the bowls or how does the hot water work. I honestly felt like I was disturbing him by just being there. Otherwise, the whole experience was lovely as I did avoid talking to the young man.
Great location, chance to live like a local. Secure hotel and good room worth extra price for balcony. Would stay again! Breakfast staff need to work on being more friendly and welcoming, but overall great stay and would come back! Recommended!
Improve breakfast staff or have it staff-less and let people help themselves.
Absolutely disappointing We already stayed many times in NYC before, but this hotel was the worst we ever stayed in. Before booking the Sanctuary Retreat, one should carefully read the information: There will be no room service at all, room cleaning will take place once a week only, change of towels and bed sheets by special request after 2-3 days only, reception hours are restricted to limited day times. One of us had to work but the breakfast became the challenge: On many mornings it was not ready at 8 a.m., often fresh fruits and coffee were already exhausted ten minutes later. As the breakfast room is too small for a part of the residents, waiting occurs. The service is limited and table cleaning by guests are requested. The very limited selection of food was too repetitive for ten days. The WiFi is extremely slow and we had to use our private mobile connection. The air conditioning system was extremely noisy and on both Saturday nights the walls were shaking from the music establishment next door via the inner yard up to 3 a.m. Office hours and service were unreliable, waiting for arriving staff before check-out kept us for 1.5 hours in the morning. When leaving, even the transfer to the airport was neither processed in a reliable way nor under the promised rate.
Sanctuary NYC Retreats is located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan only a 20-minute walk from Little Italy. Brooklyn can be reached by Metro in five minutes while Essex Street Station is an eight-minute walk from the hotel. This hotel is a mid-range establishment seven miles from La Guardia Airport and 10 miles from Newark Liberty International Airport. The hotel offers 11 non-smoking guestrooms.

Breakfast each morning includes juice, coffee, tea, toast, fruit, granola, milk, cereal, and more. There are many other restaurants in the neighborhood including Havana Central Times Square, Clinton St. Baking Company & Restaurant, One More Thai, Prohibition Bakery, and Mughlai Grill Indian Cuisine. The Burgary, Simply Hooked, and Garfunkel’s Speakeasy are also only a few steps away from the hotel.
