The location of the Hudson is really great. Close to Time Square, 5th Avenue and Central Park, but also to Hell's Kitchen and to the metro. Lots of things to see around the Hudson. Nice and comfortable bed. The gave me a bigger room and a late check out without additional cost. This wasn't the case last time I stayed at the Hudson
They closed the great bar and food area. The hotel also gives the feeling of having seen better times. There is a feeling of being run down. The elevators were often out of order and the hotel would need a good brush over. The 10 $ service voucher is also a joke, since the nice bar is closed and the library is a good idea but somehow does not create a cosy and inviting place
My colleagues room had a faulty light the rooms were so dark she could barely see and after 4 requests to reception it was still not fixed My room had a clattering noise throughout the evening due to a faulty radiator. Had to call 4 times throughout the evening. The first time reception didn’t send anyone, the second time the duty manager sent the engineer to the wrong room, the third time he sent the engineer to the wrong room again yet managed to call me at my room and say the engineer was outside.
Room was cleaned and fresh towels on a daily basis.
No information leaflet in room letting you know tourist attractions or local restaurants or bars in the surrounding area.
The fact that everything was a hard surface...so the lack of cleanliness was not as big of a deal as it could have been.
The spring mattress. The fact that the elevators barely worked. The fact that the room was not fully dusted and did not seem thoroughly cleaned. The fact that the white sheets and towels had discolored spots on them.
No facilities whatsoever. No restaurant, no room service, no breakfast facilities …..you could not even get a cup of coffee. Only 3 (out of 5) lifts working....huge delays in getting in and out of the hotel. I booked a suite so that I could work....for the first 24 hours the aircon didn't work. It was stuffy and hot. In terms of equipment it had nothing whatsoever. No glasses, no mini-bar, not a cup or mug. Furniture in the room shabby, scratched and old etc. etc. The whole experience was disgraceful and I paid nearly US$400 per night! Avoid it like the plague!
