Rude, unaccomodating staff
Convenient location close to Olympic station if staying the night from HKIA.
No razors in room. Had to leave early for a flight. Cafe staff wouldn't let me get a cup of coffee at 6:50, because they were enforcing the 7AM start. This despite the fact the buffet was already laid out, and the coffe cafafe sitting right in front of us. That's fine if that's the case, but the woman basically told me off when I politely explained I needed to leave quickly to catch a flight, and just wanted a quick cup of coffee and maybe a piece of toast before leaving. A polite 'Sorry sir, we make no exceptions to opening at 7AM' would have done. A lot of places would have given it to me to go. Really sours me on this place, that they can't even do small things to accommodate. Won't go back.
Seriously it's cheap. The staff was curtious and helpful.
Tiny room, beds are hard as a rock. Only twin beds are an option, and having two didn't make anything any better. It's not terribly close to any transit, but it's easy enough to find.
Clean, Decent, Comfortable Budget Hotel
Rooms were decent sized with enough room to put large luggage on the window sill, and space to move around. Not extremely cramped like other HK hotels. Free mobile phone provided including free local and international calls and wifi roaming. Daily room cleaning. Decent and nice staff, and room service was quick. On the day of checkout, we had a later flight so the reception took care of our luggage while we did some last minute eating and shopping. There is also a free shuttle to the main shopping district. Overall, a nice hotel and good for the price.
Location is somewhat inconvenient. At least a 10-15 minutes walk to the Tsuen Wan MTR line. The Tung Chung line is about 6 minutes walk, but not used unless heading to Disneyland or the Airport.
Interesting neighborhood. Lots of shopping and local charm. Rooms are VERY small. No place to plug in your electronics to recharge. Shuttle bus to Airport Express but only runs once per hour.
Only if you are on a budget and don't expect much
The room was clean. The hotel was quiet and it's in a good location. This is very much a budget hotel. But spend more money and stay at The Dorset Mongkok up the street which is much better and part of the same hotel group as Silka.
The room had beds that were too small. Couldn't fit a 6ft tall person in the bed without my feet hanging off the bed. The air conditioning was very weak so the room was hot. The bathroom was incredibly small, even for HK standards. The room had no washcloths at all and there was only one outlet that I could find. For what you get the price of the hotel should be much lower.
