Bad value for money. With only 3 out of 66 rooms with a double bed, it shld be clear you can’t provide a double room. Rooms are neglected and poorly maintained at these rates.
The location, beds and excellent breakfast!
Some style elements were not my taste but fit good in the hotel atmosphere.
Location was very good. Much nearby. Breakfast was OK but could have been better; see below.
There were no free outlets where I could plug in my laptop. I had to remove the outlet for the floor lamp to plug in my laptop and this left the desk area dark. The breakfast dishes were small and one needed to use two to take a sandwich or croissants and eggs. It would have been more convenient if larger dishes would have been made available. I panned to have dinner at the restaurant on Sunday night since the weather was poor. I was told at the desk that the restaurant was closed. It would have been thoughtful to have announced or posted this so that I could have made different plans earlier. These were not big problems but for a hotel that wants to set high standards, they should not have come up.
The location was very central. The staff were lovely too.
Poor aged decor and room facilities
The NH Groningen Hotel de Ville is set in a historic building, dating back to the 15th century. This boutique hotel is in a perfect location, only minutes from the University of Groningen and the ancient Martinitoren. Shops, restaurants, bars, and cafes are nearby. NH Groningen Hotel de Ville has 66 elegant rooms that have an inviting decor and feature an earthy color palette. Many of the rooms have balconies and lovely views of the city, while each is equipped with free Wi-Fi, a mini-bar, and a choice of pillows. For a little more luxury, stay in the spacious Superior room which comes complete with a walk-in closet. Breakfast will satisfy even the pickiest eaters, with a variety of hot and cold dishes, sweet and savory options, as well as morning beverages. Our Bistro 't Gerecht has a Michelin Bib Gourmand and serves scrumptious French cuisine. We offer à -la-carte options and three course fixed price menus. On the ground floor, you will find the cozy Serre Bar which is perfect for unwinding with a drink on one of our comfy sofas by the fireplace or on the terrace in the summer. The hotel also has two meeting rooms for up to 100 people.
