We decided to take this location to experience the local food that had been highly recommended to us, and we were not disappointed!
A long way from fast train stations. The electronic room power and light systems were quite confusing to work out
Nice large bathroom with a big soaking tub.
Floor of room was filthy. Feet were black after walking on it. Breakfast spread was much less than anywhere else we stayed in China.
The hotel is literally on a sportsfield. The first room on the first floor that we had was impossible. Super noisy.. you can hear kids playing and screaming and then the breakfast room was next to the room too so we could hear people discussing very loudly over breakfast from 7 to 10 am.
Anything and everything 'soft'- the arrival and departure, all the amazingly helpful and attentive staff members from the lovely welcoming reception staff, and the nice 'ayi' that serves free breakfast every morning, to the friendly night porters always in for a chat. Thanks for a few great dinner-suggestions too! Really rare to encounter a hotel staffed by so many nice people, almost like a family-hotel vibe, really the best part of the stay (I'd rate the hotel a 6 at most if it weren't for the staff). Also the lovely decoration and furnishing of the common areas provides that quintessentially Chinese feeling that only a comfortable boutique hotel can. Lovely roof terrace too. And did I mention it's smack-dab next to Wuhou Temple and the famous Jinli street? Just 5 minutes by foot past a ton of pretty solid restaurants and bars.
Most things 'hard'- from the bathroom (cramped, all the little things from faucets to the shower were just a little impractical, lack of amenities), the rooms (weird layout and furnishing), the electrics (utterly enigmatic light-switch system that also controls the blinds and curtains in an illogical manner and only from your bed-side) and the lack of a suitcase rack (or space for it). For the price range and stated 4-star level the facilities should be more high-end than this. Can be a little noisy in the morning with a school next door, too.
The ambience was good, very characterful with beautiful Chinese pots pictures and decorations.
There were a few shortcomings. The adhesive around the edge of the shower was black and mouldy, the fridge was initially not plugged in, we plugged it in but it didn’t work and there was no coffee.
