The Cavalier Hotel is definitely in a great location. My daughter and I stayed here for orientation. The proximity to the parking garage and UVA bus stop could not be beat. It was also nice that I was able to walk from campus back to the hotel.
The hotel is showing its age. Unfortunately the hotel will be demolished this May per the hotel staff.
Great location. Older hotel but nice accommodations. Continental breakfast is available but went next door to the diner. Would stay here again.
Basic at best
Great for the location and proximity to the campus. Not elegant, but good for families with kids.
A bit dingy. Beds run on the small side.
Clean. Quiet despite number of groups staying. Great location for us.
If location matters...
A converted motel. Good location especially for UVA athletic events. A decent room at reasonable price.
Mediocre facilities and breakfast. Old fashioned bathroom. Only one person at front desk even in the morning.
fine cheap m/hotel
fine for a cheap m/hotel stay. excellent on grounds/uva location. no complaints. just a simple cheap m/hotel.
Rooms must have their curtains drawn at all times to maintain privacy - that makes the room very dark & dull. Choice of cable TV channels could have been better.
Smooth check in/out process; friendly staff
Air conditioner was stuck on 74 - way too warm. Room was a little cramped
Great for UVA Visitors and Dog Owners!
I stayed at UVA for nearly a month on-campus for a teaching seminar. For my last night in town, we stayed here, and it was excellent. Staff members were accommodating and polite. They helped us check in early. They even gave our little dog some water and treats. Even though the price was higher than normal that weekend, it was still a great value. You can't beat the proximity to UVA and the Corner. Breakfast was complimentary and great!
It's an older building, but the renovations are nice! The bathrooms are tiny, but it's to be expected at an older place. Nothing too bad to say about this place, especially on a weekend when the prices are lower. Definitely good for a short stay, too.
Renovations were clean. Location was great! Staff was helpful.
right across from campus but nothing fancy
An older facility just one step up from a budget motel but best location near uva
Price was great for last minute needs. The breakfast was a very nice surprise, hot and good selections. The staff was out of this world.
The beds could use a pillow top for a tad more comfort
The hotel enjoys a quiet campus setting, a 15-minute drive from CHO Airport and 5 minutes from Charlottesville Amtrak Station. Art lovers can walk to the university's own Fralin Museum, and history buffs will want to visit nearby Monticello, the former home of US Founding Father Thomas Jefferson.
