Cozy, quiet, private. Nice amenities, Nora was great. Close restaurants, entertainment.
The beds were very comfortable, owner left some great cookies lol and overall very communicative and sweet & helpful. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a peaceful beautiful cabin to stay at with a very understanding owner who will be gladly to help with every step . 5 out of 5 FOR SURE
Everything was perfect
This Hill Country Retreat property is so beautiful, relaxing and peaceful! PRIVATE, SECLUDED, CLEAN, ORDERLY, UPSCALE, COMFY BED, and WONDERFUL HOSTESS! You truly are "surrounded by nature" and we loved the "treetop" views that overlook the canyons of the river. You can see for MILES! The large private deck is onto the woods so you feel comfy sitting out in PJs for coffee, wine, or meals, and the pool is just a short walk around the Main house porches where Nina invites you to sit and enjoy the porch swings, which WE DID! We even took our picnic lunch down and enjoyed sitting on the Long Porch at the cute table and chairs where you have remotes to turn the fans or lights on at your whim! Pool was perfect temp-heated to suit! We purchased a hot tub package and LOVED having a roaring fire next to us on this chilly night! So lovely out under the stars! We also enjoyed the Deluxe Welcome Basket which had a variety of wonderful cheeses and other surprises, and Breakfast Fixin’s Basket with farm fresh eggs and Canadian bacon, BOTH baskets were so worth it! The kitchen is well equipped. Be sure and get the DELUXE HOT TUB Pkg, especially in the winter! It was FABULOUS! Nina offers some GREAT optional amenities! Both baskets were overflowing w/ goodies and practical items! We also enjoyed the large flat screen TV w/ full cable, Netflix, and there’s a great selection of DVDs of all sorts! This property truly has it all! A plethora of groceries and excellent restaurants nearby (lots of variety for gourmet eats from $-$$$), and One World Theatre for hearing accomplished musicians is just literally "down the road!" We enjoyed our stay and will be back!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Not what we expected
What it was - a well appointed space over the owners garage in a peaceful and remote location. Extremely clean and well maintained interior space.
What it wasn't - a private single dwelling property with a pool attached to the "guesthouse" as the listing led me to believe. The owner lives full time on site and the pool is attached to the owner's house not the garage with quarters over it where guests stay. The main house, which is directly adjacent to the "guesthouse", is two level and looks directly over the pool. Although the owner kindly permits use of her porches on the main house we felt like we were trespassing on her space and being watched. As a result we were only comfortable going over to the pool for one hour of our entire stay. The river access is a walk down a dangerous road with cars driving way to fast and once you're there the access area is essentially to a little dock sandwiched between two properties with barking dogs. Admittedly it is listed as an easement but again, we felt like we were trespassing. Although the property lists for 6 (and a max of 8) it is really suited to 4 adults max in my opinion. There is one real bed (a queen) and a pull out couch which is in the living/dining room. There was an overall lack of privacy to the accommodations and the sense that the owner was monitoring your every move. There are a litany of rules, some expected, but some over the top (i.e: you are not permitted to open any of the 20 or so windows, even to air it out, no shoes in the house, no running of the ice maker etc.) There are also additional fees (referred to as "packages" and "add-ons" that you might normally assume you are already paying for in your rental fee) and time restrictions associated with use of the hot tub, outside fireplace etc. Be advised there are also fees for visitors, extra vehicles etc. We left feeling like we'd been walking on eggshells the entire time we were on the property we were paying to stay at and needed an entire day to filter through the contracts and lists of what we could and could not do. I do not recommend for families. Lastly I suggest researching and reading reviews of the property which detail experiences similar to ours. I neglected to do so before I booked and wish I had.
