Pros:
Friendly attendant in NYC. Car had relatively low miles.Cons:
Forgot transponder (which I prepaid for) making tollgates a challenge. Car quality (Ford ESport) was small and less than expected for “mid-size SUV.” Car shocks were poor, but got us to Chicago without other technical issues.3 locations in Upper East Side

They were awful. They have different hours posted with a printed sheet on their window from the hours online and painted on the storefront. They couldn't have been ruder and less accommodating about the whole experience.6.0 Okay

Pros:
The car was clean and functioning well. The pickup and drop off were quite fast, I did not have to wait long.Cons:
I reserved the car until 7 pm on December 26th. They informed me when I picked up the car that their location closed at 5 pm and I would have to return it to a different location if I returned after 5 pm. It was not a convenient location for me and I would not have booked there if I had known that.4.0 Mediocre
Jul 2018
Cons:
The lady who checked us in was absolutely unhelpful. She just repeated canned phrases to reply any of our questions and ultimately did not solve the problem we needed help with. Evidently she also got our check in wrong as we discovered when we dropped the car off. So late at night we had to spend another 30 minutes fixing this mistake. The car was fine, but old.10.0 Wonderful

We purchased the cheapest car option and got a Subaru Outback, which was very comfortable for the four of us. Also, the Avis personnel were very efficient.Cons:

Jan 2018
Pros:
1. When we arrived at the TF Green Avis location (Rhode Island), they swapped out the car quickly, easily and apologized for the inconvenience. 2. The E 43rd Street location in NYC were helpful when we dropped the car off. They said if we ever can't get through on the line when dropping off, that they're open 24/7 and will take the car back. 3. The clerk at the Long Island City location did take off $150 for the inconvenience of having to wait for over an hour.Cons:
1. Over an hour + to pick up at the Long Island City, Queens location. 2. Avis provided a car that did not have a working charging or infotainment system - only realized it after I was in the Midtown Tunnel in NYC. 3. We called to change the drop off location, the call center repeatedly noted that they couldn't change anything in the system but would not provide an explanation or alternative. They were not helpful. 4. When calling the Avis Long Island City location, no one picked up -- prior to pick up and when we were trying to drop off the car. When I was in line while picking up the car, the clerk noted that the phone line wasn't working. One week later, it still wasn't working.2 locations in Upper East Side

Pros:
Nothing. The staff was rude, unhelpful, terrible overall. I literally did not even get my car after waiting for four hours.Cons:
Every aspect could have been better. They made me wait for four hours after my scheduled pick up time, at that point I didn’t even need a car anymore. When I asked to cancel, the attendant rolled her eyes at me, looked at her coworker and mocked me, and then failed to promise I would get my money back. They wanted me to continue to wait “another hour and a half” but also didn’t promise I’d ever get the car. So I left, and had to wait on hold with the corporate office, explain, and ask for my money back. This office on 76th st in Manhattan should absolutely not be in business and is a total scam.4.4 Mediocre

Cons:
Waiting for over 4 hours for my car. The rental location was a disaster. People were waiting there for hours and there were no cars. I am filing a formal complaint with Hertz. It was the worst rental experience of my life. Most popular agency | Avis |
